Billionaire-backed AI companies have been cutting deals in the dark - using our land, water, and energy, while Hoosiers pay higher utility bills and communities lose control. Nearly half of Indiana’s energy use now goes to AI, while families struggle and politicians stay silent. We’ve been fighting these projects one town at a time. It’s time to take our fight to the statehouse.
No matter where you live or how you vote -
this impacts all of us.
While we’re bringing the fight to the Statehouse, we’re also fighting to Make Meta Pay in Clark County, where Facebook is building a massive data center. If you’re interested in getting involved in our local campaign, sign our petition.
Here’s what data centers really bring to communities:
💡 Enormous energy use: Data centers will drive up rates for Hoosiers who are already paying some of the highest utility bills in the country.
💼 Few jobs created: Despite their size, this data center will only create 100 permanent jobs. Most of these jobs will be contracted from out of state.
💰 Massive tax breaks: In Indiana, data centers are set to avoid paying sales tax on billions of dollars of equipment over 50 years, costing Indiana up to $900 million in tax revenue to start and billions over the next 5 decades.
🔍 Lack of transparency: Meta is having public, elected officials sign NDAs and being secretive about the true impacts on our community.
💧 Water usage: Data centers are estimated to use 5 million gallons of water per day, straining our resources and polluting our water
